The first thing to understand, is how recruitment agencies work: We partner with a number of different businesses and those businesses pay us to find them great employees. To do that we screen a large number of candidates (through direct job applications, referrals and networking). Once we receive your resume, we will review it to check whether you may be a match for any of the active jobs we are currently recruiting, or any potential positions we have in the pipeline.
If your experience is in line with our areas of specialisation, we will call and / or interview you to clarify your expectations and gain a better understanding of what jobs may be suitable. Once we find an opportunity that matches your criteria, we will introduce you to that employer and manage the communication, interview feedback and offer negotiation from start to finish. We provide support and guidance throughout the entire interview process and we will give you honest and constructive feedback at all stages to improve your chances of securing a role.
Absolutely. In some cases we will be supporting candidates through a number of active applications with different businesses at the same time – its all about you having the best possible opportunity, and we are transparent with our clients about that.
We invite candidates into our office to interview with our consultants. This provides a discreet and professional environment to get to know you, your background and your career goals in depth so that we can provide the best possible advice. This also gives us the opportunity to introduce you to different people across our business that may be worth connecting with based on your career goals.
Since COVID-19 we have been performing some interviews via Skype, FaceTime or Zoom.
We have a great insight into remuneration packages across the industries that we support, and actively coach and advise both candidates and clients on this evolving topic.
Yes. As long as your background is relevant to our areas of specialisation, our consultants are well equipped to give advice and guidance on how to present your resume.
Interviews are your opportunity to impress, therefore we always encourage candidates to dress in formal business attire – your Sunday best! First impressions last, and how you present yourself is a factor in your overall success throughout the interview process.
As far as working dress code etiquette goes, every company has their own dress code policy. Discuss with your consultant for advice relevant to a specific company.
LinkedIn is a fantastic tool for professional networking and allows you the ability to present your skillet and experience to potential employers. Some tips on how to create the best profile are;
- Always have a professional profile photo. A good profile photo increases the credibility of your profile and helps you stand out from the crowd.
- Make your headline stand out – Your headline is created when you add your positions to your profile. However, you can re-write it to either promote an area of expertise or to let your personality shine through.
- The About section of your profile should express your mission, motivation, and skills to people who view your profile.
- Keep the profile updated with all your professional experiences that align with your current career goals.
- Request recommendations from your connections - A recommendation is written to recognise or commend a connection, such as a colleague, business partner, or student. There’s no limit to the number of recommendations you can request for.
Interview style/structure can vary drastically depending on the role you are applying for and the company you are interviewing with. Panel interviews, assessment centres, competency-based interviews and coffee catch ups are all used for different reasons. The more insight you can get into a company’s style and expectation, the better equipped you are to be prepared and be the best version of yourself.
We gain a detailed understanding of our client’s interview processes and coach candidates to present themselves in the best way possible.
